6/30/2018 (Permalink)

Most people aren't prepared for their basement to flood. A basement can flood at any time, although flooding most often occurs during heavy rainfall. Basements are inherently prone to flooding because they are the lowest level of a building and are normally built partly or entirely below ground level. There are a number of reasons why your basement could flood, including:

  • A blocked or failed sewer lateral pipe
  • Heavy rain causes surface water to pool around your home
  • Storm sewer backup
  • Sanitary sewer backup
  • Foundation drainage failure
  • Water supply-line break or hot-water tank failure
  • And many more

Have Questions about Basement Flooding, give us a call. We are here to answer your questions and be of help to you.

Our Process After Your Fire

6/13/2018 (Permalink)

Every fire damage event is a little different, and requires a unique solution, but the general process stays the same. The steps listed below illustrate our process for the "typical" fire damage emergency.

Step 1: Emergency Contact- The restoration process begins when you call the SERVPRO National Call Center, which staffed 24 hours a day. Our representative will ask a series of questions regarding the fire damage event and dispatch you to the correct contact.

Step 2: Inspection and Fire Damage Assessment- Our team will carefully inspect and test adjoining rooms of your property to determine the extent of the fire, smoke, and soot damage. This step is crucial to developing a plan of action.

Step 3: Immediate Board-Up and Roof-Tarp Service- Fire damage can often compromise windows, walls, and roofs. To maintain security and to protect against further damage, our SERVPRO team can board up missing windows and walls and place tarps on damaged roofs.

Step 4: Water Removal and Drying (if water damage is present)- The water removal process begins almost immediately and removes the majority of the water. They will then use dehumidifiers and air movers to remove the remaining water and complete the drying process.

Step 5: Removal of Smoke and Soot from all Surfaces- Our team uses specialized equipment and techniques to remove soot from ceilings, walls, and other surfaces.

Step 6: Cleaning and Sanitizing- Our team will clean all of the restorable items. We have multiple cleaning techniques to restore your belongings to pre-fire condition.

Step 7: Restoration-This is our final step, getting everything into pre-fire condition.

We are proud to serve you. Let us do the work.

Meet The State Farm Andrew Hinz Office!

5/10/2018 (Permalink)

Danny and I arrived at the Andrew Hinz State Farm office to a busy waiting area first thing in the morning. I knew the theme of this office even before Andrew told me what it was: relationships and community. Paige Lee was working out their mission at the front desk going above and beyond to help the customers, which didn’t surprise me at all. They are “In the community and for the community,” as Andrew would say. They not only say it, but they put it into practice. Who hasn’t seen Andrew and Paige at a Lincoln High School basketball game handing out checks? Their support is huge for our community, and their office teamwork is incredible.

When speaking with Andrew about his company, the word “ethical” came up. It is a powerful word, and it rings true in this office. Andrew said “Everything we do is right by the client, even if we make less money because of it. We work for the community.”

Andrew is the President-Elect of the Rotary Club of Vincennes and will be the President starting July 1st! He is also involved in Junior Achievement, which teaches children how money, careers, and business ownership work by volunteering and providing mentorship. Andrew and his wife, Lauren, met at Murray State University and have planted their own roots here in Vincennes with their son. Andrew said they are here to stay. Lauren is the Title I Lead Teacher at Vigo Elementary School. You can tell how much Andrew adores Lauren as he spoke about her patience and kindness. These two are a power couple.

When did you first open your office?

 September 1, 2015

 Why State Farm?

“I have always been with State Farm, and I wanted to be on the #1 team (in terms of insuring more cars and homes than any other insurance company in the United States).”

Do you have a favorite festival or event in the area?

 “Definitely the parades.”

What are some of your favorite things about Knox County?

“The history, the monuments, the state’s oldest college. There is so much history here.”

Do you prefer reading or watching TV?

“TV, but I am in some book clubs through State Farm.”

  Favorite sweets?

“Chess Squares”….We had to look this one up! Google defines them as a “classic

Southern treat” with a flaky upper crust and a soft, browned, cake-like bottom crust. I was sold at butter and sugar. You must look these up and make them! I know I’m planning on it.

As a child, what did you want to be when you “grew up”?

You really need to ask Andrew his fishing pole story for all of the details, but he basically was always an entrepreneur. You could say it’s in his blood. He was “selling” items to his childhood friends at a very young age and he always knew he wanted to be in business.

 Random Fact?

Andrew played many sports growing up, but tennis was a favorite. He still plays to this day!

What kind of music do you listen to?

He really enjoys all genres, but Danny and I personally loved that he mentioned how he even loves some blue grass every once in awhile.

We had a blast spending some time with Andrew and Paige.

Duct Cleaning

4/3/2018 (Permalink)

Have you ever wondered if you need your ducts cleaned?

Sweeping away years of dust and dirt-helping reduce potential for damage and health risks.

The ventilation system is often the biggest culprit in poor indoor air quality, inspecting the ductwork should be a high priority. In most cases, the HVAC system has been operating for awhile without much attention. The purpose for cleaning them is to prevent ducts from circulating odors, contaminants such as mold and irritating dust throughout your building or home.

Our team inspects the heating, ventilation and air conditioning unit (HVAC). Keeping the HVAC system and ductwork clean can potentially extend the life span of the equipment by allowing it to operate at peak condition, which may save you money.

Consider SERVPRO of Vincennes Indiana to come to your home and clean your ducts. Let us look out for your home and your families health.
